Silkyara Tunnel: Efforts are on to save trapped workers – PHOTOS

At the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi, the Government of India (GOI) is actively engaged in ongoing rescue operations. 41 workers are trapped.The two-km section of the tunnel, with completed concrete work ensuring the safety of those trapped, is the focus of the rescue efforts. In this part of the tunnel, water and electricity supply are operational. Provisions, including food and medicines, are being provided through a dedicated 4-inch compressor pipeline.To rescue trapped workers, various government agencies have been mobilized. Each agency is assigned clear tasks to ensure the safe evacuation of the labours. To boost the morale of those trapped, the government is maintaining constant communication.On 12th November, a collapse took place in the under-construction tunnel from Silkyara to Barkot. Rapid mobilization of resources by the state and central governments ensued to rescue the 41 trapped workers.Here are some photos. Have a look:
